Intern Diaries: Verity Harrison-Allan

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

I have been working at Petersens PR for almost a month now. I can wholeheartedly say that my experience has been such a joy. I have recently graduated from Cardiff University, where I studied English and History and had been looking for an opportunity to learn how to go from a student work mentality to the professional world. I found out about the internship at Cardiff University Intranet and was incredibly eager to apply to their social media and PR Graduate Internship position.

Luckily, I got the job. With this, I have already learnt how to use new software, such as Sprout Social and Wix, where I work on writing and designing blogs for our website and schedule social media posts and promotions for our clients. I have also participated in prospective client meetings and social media launches- all of this in only a month!

Choosing English and History at university means that it is no surprise that I have a love for writing. Therefore, I am so grateful for the responsibility of writing blogs and articles for our website and clients, using current affairs and client news to boost traffic on our website and promote clients. Further, we have a wide range of clients; this allows me to write on an array of topics.

The actual office itself is a very friendly and motivating workspace. Petersens PR has recently moved into Eastern Business Park, which is a new and modern business park. The Park has both a gym and amazing restaurant Milk& Sugar, which we go to perhaps too many times, but it's lovely to have these facilities available.

Not only is the workspace so ideal, but the relationship between the team makes it a joy to go to the office. It is a friendly, positive atmosphere that allows everyone’s creativity and unique personality to shine. My strengths are utilised, and my weaknesses improved. It is a perfect balance of independent learning and professional guidance; no micromanaging allows us to reach our full potential.

Overall, I am incredibly grateful for having this opportunity to work at Petersens PR. The company has a very respected reputation and is the perfect place to have an internship that provides a first-class practical education in the world of social media and PR. I highly recommend this internship to anyone creative and interested in the world of PR and social media.

Thank you Petersens PR!
